A stirring flute solo introduces this piece, fluttering for a moment over a cadenza on the pentatonic scale, above the soft tremelo of the strings. The warm tones of the horn move into the melody and grow into the fullness of a brass choir, supported by lush chords in the strings. Opening up to a sprightly waltz, the trombones take the melody with strong rhythmic punctuation in the rest of the orchestra and wonderful material from Die Fledermaus as countermelody. A fresh presentation of a favorite!
