As the first violin plays the melody the other instruments have an interesting counterpoint underneath. As the piece changes keys a beautiful effect is achieved by a short ostinado pattern in the cello. There is a lovely series of chord progressions near the ending. Appropriate for an offertory, communion piece or prelude.
