Vocing: Unison/2-Part with piano or handbells
Composer: Carolee Curtright
Carolee Curtright is Assistant Professor in Music Education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and is also a volunteer children's choir director at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. Those of you who have been a member of Choristers Guild for several years will remember her "Two Christmas Songs For Younger Children" (CGA58) published by the Guild in 1968. If you do not know these pieces, consider them for your choirs, especially the younger elementary ages. "Sing, O Sing" is a very effective and joyous Easter anthem that may be sung either in unison or two-part (the two-part section is primarily a canon). Handbell accompaniment is preferable, but the piano may also be used to good effect. Sing this piece with great joy and abandon, and not too slow.
